Brandon Satterwhite (Mu, ‘98) has been inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame for service to the Fraternity. Brother Satterwhite served on the Executive Council from 2006 until 2016, including as Grand Regent from 2012 to 2016.
Brother Satterwhite was initiated at the University of Alabama as Roll 1311, and served as Treasurer and Philanthropy Chair while he was a student member. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1998.
Brother Satterwhite started his career as a staff engineer for Infrared Testing at Pratt & Whitney following graduation as he continued his education at the Florida Atlantic University, receiving his MS in Computer Science in 2003. In 2016 he was hired as a Senior Software Engineer at DSS (Document Storage Systems) Inc and continues to work there at present.
“Since joining DSS, Brandon has been an exemplary employee,” said Marlon Mills, Director of VA Applications Development at Document Storage Systems, Inc. “He scores high marks for fostering synergy and mutual support amongst his team. Brandon possesses a poised disposition, which brings a sense of calm to potentially stressful situations. He excels at maintaining open lines of communication and is more than generous with his time to share knowledge, provide guidance, or lend assistance. Brandon is more than your consummate professional. His love for family and sports, in particular Alabama football, inevitably finds its way into team chats which has created a deeper bond with his colleagues. It has been a pleasure working with Brandon, being a witness to his professional growth and getting to know him on a personal level. He sets a high standard for us all to aspire to, both professionally and as human beings. Congratulations on being the recipient of such a prestigious award, well deserved.”
While completing his education and beginning his career, Brother Satterwhite served as Southeast Regional Director from 2000-2006. Following this appointment, Satterwhite ran and was elected by the National Convention to the position of Grand Marshal for three terms (2006-2012), and again as Grand Regent for two terms (2012-2016).
While serving on the Executive Council, Brandon Satterwhite was ignited with a passion to launch a national community service initiative. The inaugural Theta Tau Habitat for Humanity was spearheaded by Brother Satterwhite in 2010. It was attended by brothers from Mu, Iota Gamma, and Kappa Gamma Chapters. Since its inception, Satterwhite has expanded the program into several weeks each year, in Florida and California, aligning with the Spring Breaks of the majority of our chapters.
After the 2020 pandemic forced the cancellation of these weeks, he worked to restart this tradition and continues to inspire our student members and alumni to congregate for this alternative Spring Break experience. Largely thanks to his efforts leading this initiative, Theta Tau has raised $146,520 for Habitat for Humanity, with 941 brothers participating since its first iteration. This experience is continuing this Spring with brother Satterwhite continuing to organize and promote the experience.
In 2022, Brother Satterwhite also received the William K. Rey Award, Mu Chapter’s highest award, given to brothers from the University of Alabama who have shown exemplary service to the fraternity and their chapter.
