Theta Tau is pleased to announce Ms. Brittany Jordan as the first recipient of the Theta Tau Award for Interfraternal Service.  This new award recognizes a campus-based or headquarters-based professional for service to the Fraternal Community and, by extension, to Theta Tau.

Brittany Jordan is an accomplished student affairs professional originally from Florence, Alabama. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Merchandising (2013) and Master of Science in Instructional Technology & Design with a concentration in Workplace Design & Performance (2023) from the University of North Alabama.

She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life at The University of Alabama (UA), where she has advised the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the United Greek Council (UGC) since 2019. With over 11 years of experience in higher education, Brittany is passionate about student leadership development and creating experiences that challenge individuals to grow personally and professionally.

“It is a true honor to see Brittany recognized as the inaugural recipient of the Theta Tau Award for Interfraternal Service,” said Kathleen Duffy, Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Alabama.   “Her unwavering commitment to supporting both individual students and the broader fraternal community exemplifies the spirit of this award; she is an advocate for students and organizations that are often underrepresented, and she fosters collaboration across chapters and councils. From attending late night meetings, to helping student leaders navigate difficult transitions, to ensuring that the new Greek Assembly Hall is accessible and utilized to the fullest, Brittany goes above and beyond to serve students and the Greek community at UA is lucky to have her.”

In her current role, Jordan oversees all recruitment and intake efforts for 16 chapters, facilitates educational workshops for student leaders, and serves as the primary liaison between her chapter members, campus partners, and national board members. She regularly collaborates with departments to connect students with vital campus resources.

A standout achievement has been Brittany’s instrumental role in the development of Greek Assembly Hall, a newly launched campus facility (2023) dedicated solely to the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and United Greek Council (UGC). From conceptual design to final construction, Brittany saw the project through every phase—an endeavor she considers her proudest contribution. She also helped orchestrate the scholarship process that has awarded $35,500 in general scholarships to 68 students since Spring 2020—demonstrating her ongoing commitment to access and academic success for culturally based Greek members.

“When people ask me who the gold-standard is for a campus-based FSL advisor, I tell them about Brittany Jordan,” said Jim Gaffney, Theta Tau Executive Director.  “Since my first month on this job, Ms. Jordan has been an indispensable partner in supporting our chapter at the University of Alabama, as well as a consummate professional and a genuine pleasure to work with.  I can think of no-one better to receive this honor.”

Raised in a single-parent household, Brittany is a proud first-generation college graduate who credits her success to the values of hard work, faith, and determination instilled by her mother. Her dedication to service and advocacy has earned her numerous accolades, including induction into The XXXI, an all-female UA honor society in 2024, and the Outstanding Campus Partner Award in 2023 from UA’s Student Government Association.

“Ms. Jordan has given so much to not only our chapter, but every chapter in UGC and NPHC, ” said Mu Chapter’s Regent, Ryan Weber (Mu, ’27). “Her dedication to all organizations, including Theta Tau, is truly extraordinary. Her continuous support of our chapter has been greatly appreciated and noticed by every member. Ms. Jordan truly exemplifies Interfraternal Service to the fullest, and we look forward to continuing to work together. We couldn’t be more excited for Ms. Jordan to receive this award!”

Known by students for her genuine presence, care, and commitment, Brittany leads with humility—often working behind the scenes to uplift others. Whether she’s meeting with student leaders after hours or sharing her signature joke (“Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field”), she remains deeply invested in those she serves. Her work is guided by love—for what she does, and more importantly, who she gets to do it with.

The Theta Tau Award for Interfraternal Service, given to one recipient each year, recognizes an individual who has rendered extraordinary service to the interfrateral community and, by extension, to Theta Tau. The Executive Council’s decision to honor Jordan with this award was based on nominations from the Executive Director and from the Mu Chapter of Theta Tau at the University of Alabama. Jordan was selected for her work as a campus-based partner who has demonstrated a long history of advocacy for one of our chapters, and as a person who demonstrated a clear care for our members, and for the broader fraternal movement.
