We would like to congratulate Timothy Wilson (Lambda Gamma, ’25) and Sebastian Castro (Phi Delta, ’25) on their scholarships from Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.  All Tau Beta Pi Scholarships are awarded on the competitive criteria of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession to members of the organization.

Timothy Wilson is a Clemson Honors College student pursuing a dual degree in Economics and Industrial Engineering. He works as an undergraduate research assistant during the school year and has been working on projects centered around integrating extended reality technology to work with humans to complete aircraft inspections. Following this project he received the following certification: Group 1 Investigators Conducting Social and Behavioral Science Research (SBR) at Clemson University from the CITI Program. He is looking forward to another upcoming project involving a grant from NASA!

Brother Wilson was recently recognized as the recipient of the 2024 Kimbler Undergraduate Researcher Award. The Kimbler Undergraduate Researcher Award recognizes potential students pursuing a BS degree in Industrial Engineering to serve as academic role models in research and education. He also made the President’s List for the Spring 2023 semester, maintaining a 4.0 GPA through his first 4 semesters at Clemson University

Sebastion Castro is a Chemical Engineering student at Florida A&M University – Florida State University. He is a Presidential Scholar and a Student Engineering Leadership Board member on his campus, developing the engineering community and promoting high standards for other engineering students. He works to provide connections to other students looking for experience in engineering research. According to Florida State University, “Castro conducted research at Caltech’s WAVE Fellows Program and attended the Hispanic Scholarship Fund’s STEM Summit to broaden his knowledge and network.” At Caltech’s program, Brother Castro participated in impactful research in solar fuels under the umbrella of the Liquid Sunlight Alliance and Resnick Sustainability Institute.

Brother Castro has exemplified our fraternity and its pillars and promoted Theta Tau on his campus.  When asked about his experience as regent of Phi Delta Chapter, he stated:

“My goal was to give back to my brothers and help them grow as I have. My mission has been to develop and improve the chapter and to leave it better than when I joined. My time in Theta Tau has been the most transformative and fulfilling experience of my college career.”
