Theta Tau is excited to announce that the Executive Council has approved the Candidate Chapter certification of the  Theta Tau Alpha Fraternity at the University of Texas, Dallas.

The interest group, which took the name Theta Tau Alpha for the purposes of establishing on campus, has been working closely with Candidate Chapter Director Rhett Livengood on fulfilling the requirements for interest groups to petition for certification. The Executive Council approve their petition on July 8th, 2024.

“Establishing a Theta Tau candidate chapter at UT Dallas continues our growth in progressive engineering colleges across North America focusing on a variety of engineering disciplines and diversity of students,” said Candidate Chapter Director Rhett Livengood (chapter, year) “We are excited to start a chapter at a school with engineering students working in emerging engineering disciplines such as computer science and AI engineering.”

The Theta Tau Interest Group at UTD was initially organized in the early Fall of 2023. The interest group accumulated a group of 11 executive members and a founding class of 28 by the time the group was recognized by the UTD Student Organization Committee in late Fall of 2023. Within their first couple months of operation, they held five Engineering and Computer Science-related projects. They look forward to continuing innovation in the ECS fields for the betterment of their group and community.

The certification team will be visiting their campus this fall to officially certify them as a Candidate Chapter. We look forward to meeting the members in person and helping them expand the opportunities afforded to Theta Tau members, and bringing it to the UT Dallas campus!
