Jean-Marc Cassier is an alumnus of Psi Gamma Chapter at Virginia Tech, where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science in 2019. He earned a Master of Human Computer Interaction from Iowa State University in 2023. Upon graduation, Jean-Marc started his volunteer journey on the Volunteer Committee. He was subsequently appointed Atlantic Regional Director in October 2020, which he served in before joining the Executive Council in 2023. He also concurrently served as interim Mid-Atlantic RD during Fall 2021 and has been a member of The Gear Editorial and DEI Committees.
Jean-Marc returned to his hometown of Richmond, VA to start his professional career as a software engineer at Capital One. During his time at Capital One, he completed the Technology Development Program (TDP) for recent graduates and served on the TDP Council as co-chair of Richmond’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee where he worked on initiatives to create an inclusive environment for his peers. In 2023, he shifted from the private sector to the public sector working for the U.S. Navy as a software engineer focusing on user experience design. Outside of work and Theta Tau, Jean-Marc continues to practice the cello and spend time with friends around the city of Richmond.
