Stu graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and was initiated into the Kappa Gamma Chapter in January 2002. He completed a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Cardinal Stritch University in 2015 and has a Senior Reactor Operator Certification for Boiling Water Nuclear Reactors. He is currently working towards his Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
Stu was very active throughout his student membership holding many leadership positions including chapter regent, vice regent, marshal, pledge instructor, as well as serving on as his chapter’s first ever Delegate at the 2002 National Convention in Fort Lauderdale, FL and as the Chapter Alternate at the 2004 National Convention in Minneapolis, MN. He’s attended every National Convention since 2002 and several Leadership Academy’s. After graduating college, Stu volunteered with the fraternity in numerous capacities, including Atlantic Regional Director, National Historian, National Archivist, Grand Outer Guard, Grand Marshal, and Grand Vice Regent before being elected to Grand Regent in 2021. He was re-elected Grand Regent in 2023.
Stu is currently a Nuclear Project Manager at Xcel Energy based in Minneapolis, MN. He has almost 20 years experience working at three nuclear power plants (both boiling water and pressurized water reactors). He was previously a Nuclear Engineer at Xcel Energy specializing in regulatory and non-regulatory programs such as heat exchangers, underground piping, license renewal, and portions of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), ASME Section XI Code, and ASME OM Code. Previous to his time at Xcel Energy, Stu worked a similar engineering position at Dominion Energy headquartered in Richmond, VA.
Stu lives in the greater Minneapolis, MN area with his wife, 3 daughters, 2 cats, and 1 dog. In his (limited) free time from work, fraternity, and playing with his children, he enjoys travel, board games, reading/listening to books, and tubing down the river in his backyard.
