PHILADELPHIA – It is with great sadness that we report to you that, this morning, the Executive Council of Theta Tau ordered the effective closure of the Omicron Gamma Chapter at UC Davis.

This action was taken following an extensive investigation that uncovered acts of hazing perpetrated by the chapter in violation of Theta Tau and California law.  Our findings mirrored those of an independent investigation conducted by the university earlier this semester.

All current student members have been moved to alumni status, and about 20 members have been brought up on additional charges for the roles they played in the hazing.   The charter has been suspended and will remain so until the 2023 Convention, at which time a motion will be made for it to be formally revoked.

While certainly regrettable, this action is in the long-term best interest of the chapter, the university community, and our Fraternity.  This chapter demonstrated that they were not capable of operating in a way that is consistent with our values, expectations, or laws.

We thank the University of California, Davis, for their partnership and collaboration during this process.  We hope to return to campus in 2026.
